Fall Door Hanger

I have been itching for something new to hang on the door for fall. I made a wreath a couple of days ago for the back door, but I wanted something unique and different for the front door.

I saw a post on another blog, Total Tippins Takeover where she made a burlap apple. You can find the tutorial she gave here. It looked easy enough, so I bought the supplies and got to work.

I cut out my apple shape and started painting.
I quickly realized that I did not have enough red paint. I remembered we had a lot of orange paint in the garage, so my apple became a pumpkin.

I was just going to paint it orange and leave it alone, but it looked weird and needed something else.

I painted our name, made a bow, and hung it up with ribbon.

The finished product.

First Day of School

Today was the day we have been talking about for a few weeks.

Max started Pre-K. We have been back and forth for months about whether to send Max to school or keep him at home for 1 more year. After a lot of talking, we decided to send him. It is going to be so good for him and also for this mama.

He was so so thrilled this morning and never looked back when we went to his classroom. After a few tears, I was able to leave. :)

Crocker is going to a 3 morning a week Preschool. He is so excited to go and when we walked Max into his classroom, Crocker tried to hang up his backpack too.

Back to School Party

Sunday night, we had a back to school party for the boys. I made a few decorations and we had their favorite food for supper.

Sheldon made pancakes (Max's favorite) and I cooked bacon (Crocker's favorite).

I used paper sacks and sewed them together to make a banner. I just used a marker to write School Days on it.

 Photobucket

I used craft supplies we had on hand and filled up vases for the centerpiece.

Photobucket

I wanted a cute little napkin, so we had yellow napkins already. I just made a ruler design on them.

We had a good dinner and talked about the new school year. The boys were excited for school the next day!

Burlap and Ribbon Wreath

The other day, I had a creative itch. I got my supplies together and made a burlap and ribbon wreath for Halloween.

I used styrofoam wreath base, 1 yard of burlap, and some ribbon I had lying around.

Photobucket

I laid out my burlap and began cutting it into 2" by 11" strips.

Photobucket Photobucket

After I cut my strips, I just tied them onto the wreath base.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I decided that I also wanted to use ribbon on my wreath. I cut my ribbon and just wrapped it around the wreath.

Photobucket Photobucket

I tied orange ribbon strips to make it a little more Halloween-esq.

I think it looks so cute and the ribbon can easily be changed out for Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

Toothless

I cannot even believe that I am writing this post.

Max is only 4 years and 10 months old; time is flying by too quickly. I need it to slow down.

Two weeks ago at church Max was talking to his Sunday School teacher and she noticed a tooth that was already coming in behind his other teeth. I began to examine things and we realized that one of his bottom teeth were loose.

Throughout the week we would look at his teeth and the tooth beside the bottom loose one became loose as well.

 Photobucket

The next week, we noticed a bump and a new tooth beginning to come in beside the 1st one.

Photobucket

Then, nothing else happened. Yesterday, he came to me and his tooth was super super loose. I wiggled it a time or two and out it came.

Photobucket

We celebrated and cheered! He was thrilled.

All of that excitement carried on through his nap time and he was wiggling on his other tooth. He came upstairs early from his nap and his other loose tooth was barely hanging on. So, I wiggled it a few times and out it came too.

Max is super pumped to have lost 2 teeth. I think another one might send me over the edge!

Everyone has been asking him if the tooth fairy is going to come and he promptly informs them that he is scared of fairies. So I don't know if she will be making an appearance or not. I guess time will tell.

Little Artist

The other day Crocker was drawing with markers, I was at the table working on a few things, and Eli was playing on the floor. Crocker got done and went downstairs to play. I saw him cleaning up the markers off the table and putting the paper back where it goes. So, I didn't think anymore about it.

A few minutes later, I looked down to check on Eli and he was covered in marker.

Crocker must have left a marker on the floor. I am so glad it was a washable marker and wiped right off of Eli. Next time, I will know to check the floor after coloring!

Picture Dump

I have been so so bad lately about pulling out my real camera. Using my phone is so much faster and convenient. So today, I have a random post of pictures from my phone.

Max's nap mat came in and I took it to get it monogrammed. We are one step closer to next Monday.

Photobucket

We built a fort one day and the boys had so much fun playing in it.

Photobucket Photobucket

Oh the joys of a crawler, toys everywhere.

Sheldon and Eli had an arm wrestling contest.

Eli was thrilled that he won!

One for the Record Books

Let me give a little background before I begin my story. We live way out in a small small town. We have a teeny tiny grocery store and the closest grocery where you could do weekly shopping is 20 minutes away. The closest Walmart is over an hour away and actually in another state. ha! Target is a good 2.5 hours away.

 Now onto the story.

Since Eli was born, back in Jan, I have not been to Walmart with all 3 kids by myself. Sheldon has always been with me. If he wasn't where he could go, I would haul all 3 boys to the grocery, or just order what I needed off of Amazon. (That could be why our so nice UPS lady comes almost everyday to out house.)

 Anyway.

One day this week, I decided we needed to go to Walmart. Max and Crocker both had a list of school supplies to get and I was just wanting to get out of the house. So, I loaded everyone up and we took off. The ride up there was uneventful. Eli snoozed off and on and the big boys watched a movie. When we got to Walmart, Eli needed to eat and he chowed down in the parking lot. The big boys didn't even noticed that the car stopped.

 Photobucket Photobucket

I knew that Eli could not sit in his carseat in the basket of the cart like he usually does because I would need the basket for school supplies. So, I was in luck and saw our new favorite cart outside just waiting for us! Max usually walks in stores, but I figured what the hey! There was an extra seat anyway!

 Photobucket

Anyways.

The boys acted so so good and we even stopped for lunch before heading home. Another luxury of going to the "big city". I forsee many more trips in our future and maybe I will get crazy and drive to Target one day!

School Shots

Sheldon changed jobs a couple of months ago. The new job has been so great and he is loving his new position. The only downfall was that we would had to wait 3 months for the new insurance to take effect.
Last week, we received our new insurance cards in the mail and I made appointments for Max and Eli. Eli needed to have his 4 month check up (he's 6.5 months now) and Max needed 1 shot before he goes to PreK. Luckily Sheldon was home the day of the appointment, so he stayed home with Crocker.
The boys did great in the waiting room even though we have to wait almost an hour. Eli played in his carseat and I held him for awhile. Max brought Iron Man for moral support and he played with him.

 Photobucket Photobucket

We got back into our room and the boys started getting checked out. Max is good and Eli has a touch of reflux (which I suspected) and he was put on meds. Eli loved the paper and he weighs 21 pounds. He is a big ball of love!

 Photobucket Photobucket

It came time for the shots and Max freaked out. He had to have 3 people hold him down to get his 2 shots. It was terrible. He cried halfway home. Eli took his shots like a champ and was done crying within seconds. Eli fell asleep on the way home and Max decided he felt a little better after a special drink from Sonic.

I am so glad that shot day is behind us and we can focus on getting the big boys ready for school!

Early Mornings

One of the many benefits of having a dad that works from home is doing a little early morning hunting. Sheldon and Max got up about 5:30 and left at 6 am to go set up for coyote hunting.
They didn't get anything, but they had a great time and Max loved spending time with his daddy.

Photobucket Photobucket

Someone was a little less than thrilled this morning when he woke up and found out that his daddy and Max were gone. He couldn't wait for them to get home! You can see he snuck into the picture of Max and Sheldon after they got home.
