Festival of Lights

After we stuffed ourselves full on Thanksgiving, we went to see the Christmas lights.
We had a good time just walking around and looking at all the light displays.
It was a fun way to kick off the Christmas season.

Our Thanksgiving

For a year, we had been planning on going to Kansas to visit family for Thanksgiving. Sheldon's work had a vacation freeze, so we were stuck at home.
Thanksgiving is Sheldon's favorite holiday, so I knew I would have to go all out and make it special for him.

The preparations started early in the week. I made pumpkin pies. One of them did not make it until Thursday. Sheldon started celebrating a little early!

Wednesday we a day of cooking for me.
I made homemade cranberry sauce.

I made, cut up, and set out bread and cornbread to dry out.

I made sweet potato casserole.

We also had homemade apple pie.

Thursday, I put in the turkey and started off cutting the celery and onions for the stuffing.

Sheldon and Max did what men do and watched tv while I cooked. Max really got into the parade this year.

He also put on his new apron and hat to watch me cook.

Crocker played with Sheldon.

Popcorn hovered under my feet to hoping I would drop something.

Our family on Thanksgiving.

Sheldon eventually made his way to the kitchen to carve the turkey.

Our Thanksgiving dinner.

Please excuse my haggish look. lol

Oh my! Crocker loved the Thanksgiving dinner! He especially loved the green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole.

Max liked his dinner okay.

He was enjoying it until he had to try the green bean casserole. He was not a fan!

Grandparent's Day

Max's school had a Grandparent's Day before Thanksgiving break. We are so sad not to live near family, so Sheldon and I went to represent all the Grandparents that could not be there.

They had a little program and did a little singing.

Crocker was happy to sit beside his daddy.

Little Turkeys

We have been busy making fall/Thanksgiving art projects. Max is really getting into the holidays and it is so fun to watch him.
We made hand print turkeys one day after nap time. Max did really good with his. Luckily, Sheldon came home in the nick of time and was there to help me do Crocker's.

They turned out too cute and look good next to my kitchen sink.

Special Days

I love the days that Max goes to school and Crocker does not. We have such a fun day and sometimes stop and get a treat. Crocker loves donut holes and we occasionally stop and get some while Max is at school.

He cannot shovel them in fast enough and I eventually have to cut him off.

Giving Back

It is no secret that our boys are spoiled. They do not want for anything and Sheldon and I want them to realize how fortunate they are.

The boys school sent a note home with a list of foods they were collecting. They were going to compile all the collected food and distribute Thanksgiving dinner to needy families.

Sheldon and I discussed it and decided to contribute an entire dinner. We made it a family event and really tried to help Max understand how lucky he is.
We went and purchased all the groceries.

A few days later the boys and I delivered them to the school. Max was so proud and is (hopefully) very thankful for his food.

Shared Treasures

I love when Crocker gets ready for a new size of clothing. I don't have to run to the store and buy anything. I just have Sheldon get a tub or 2 down and get his new wardrobe out.
It is so fun to Crocker wearing the same things that Max wore. It is also funny to see things that Max wore when he was 9 months old that Crocker is wearing when he is 13 months. The newest set of clothes had a special little shirt in it. I got teary eyed when I pulled it out to wash and more teary eyed when I put it on Crocker to wear today.

Max wore this shirt for the 1st time when his daddy came home from war. I searched high and low for the perfect shirt. What could be more perfect than this?
